Blue Gum Ramos
The Ramos was traditionally a drink that required a 12-minute shake. For anyone who has tried to shake a cocktail for a single minute will know this is an eye-watering undertaking. Back in the very early 1900s when the drink was invented by Mr. Henry C. Ramos at The Stag bar in New Orleans’ it featured the improbable combination of gin, orange blossom water, citrus juice, egg, and cream. It sounds horrendous - we know - but trust us it works, it works so well that here 120 years later we’re still bothering to break the sweat to make the drink. But a long, hard shake of a full minute will suffice, don’t do yourself any damage trying to shake for 12.
